Professional Career:

David Young is judicial candidate for the Franklin County Municipal court in the November 2011 election.

Mr. Young was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Kettering, Ohio.  He is married with a son (13) and daughter (10) living in Dublin, Ohio.

David Young received his undergraduate degree BS from Miami University (Ohio) with a double major in Accounting and Finance and his law degree JD from Washington University (St. Louis, MO), a top 20 ranked school by U.S. News and World Report.

Mr. Young began his career working as an associate at Smith & Schnacke, a 200 attorney firm with offices in Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati and Orlando, Florida. While at the firm, Mr. Young represented a client in purchase of four radio stations throughout the nation, and he co-authored a law review article “Is Silence Golden, A Director’s Duty to Disclose Preliminary Merger and Acquisition Negotiations” Washington and Lee Law Review, Summer 1987.

Thereafter, the law firm of Loeb & Loeb (Los Angeles, Century City, New York and Rome) recruited Mr. Young to accept an associate position in the Los Angeles, California office.  During his time at Loeb & Loeb, Mr. Young had the opportunity to represent a client in the financing of a major motion picture, Cadillac Man.

Later, Mr. Young joined the prestigious law firm of Riordan & McKinzie (Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, Westlake, CA) as an associate.  Mr. Young represented a client in the public offering of an $80 million dollar Notes Debentures underwritten by Drexel, Burnham & Lambert post its demise.

While in Los Angeles, Mr. Young had the good fortune a being selected to participate in the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Spring Trial Attorney Project (TAP).  TAP is an intensive 10-week training program in Trial Practice, Procedure and Authority.  Upon completing TAP, Mr. Young was permitted to prosecute misdemeanor jury trials.   Mr. Young fell in love with practicing criminal law at that time.

Mr. Young then returned home to Ohio to begin his own family and accepted a position as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Franklin County.   Mr. Young worked for the citizens of Franklin County for three (3) years as one of their Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys until he decided to enter into private practice.

Mr. Young has been in private practice for over 17 years and while his practice consists primarily of criminal law defense, he also maintains a civil litigation practice which includes business litigation and also serving as a NASD arbitration panelist.   Mr. Young also serves as a FINRA Arbitration panelist resolving disputes between customers and brokerage houses. He has represented thousands of clients which have included professional athletes, doctors, lawyers, nurses, school teachers, police officers, firefighters, union workers, and persons of every ethnic background.

Mr. Young one of the few attorneys who is licensed to practice in:  Ohio, California, Florida and District of Columbia; United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals (Sixth Circuit) and the United States Federal District Court (Southern District of Ohio).

Mr. Young has authored a Law Review article and lectured at legal seminars and Maryhaven® and The Woods of Parkside programs.  He has been selected by his peers as a Top Lawyers, 2011 (Business First) and for inclusion in 2011 edition The Best Lawyers in America®.

Personal Life:

Mr. Young is an avid traveler.  He has run with bulls in Pamplona, Spain, visited the mud men in Papua New Guinea, walked on the Great Wall of China, scuba dove on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and danced with the Maasai in Kenya, Africa.  He also has visited most every state in the United States.

Mr. Young participates in all sports including skiing, golfing, running, bicycling, swimming and fishing and loves the Ohio State BUCKEYES.  But most of all, he cherishes spending time with his family and attending all of his children’s school and sporting activities.

Mr. Young is a Knight of Columbus, member of The Shamrock Club and the Franklin County Democratic Lawyers’ Club.
